The Bakehouse Company is in Broughton Street. Absolutely EVERYTHING is delicious. It’s at number 32, which is on the left hand side as you look down Broughton Street – telephone number 0131 557 1157.
I orginally reviewed it HERE and took my mum back again this week.
This visit I opted for their silver service tea of Lapsang Souchong at £2.70. That may seem quite expensive for a pot of tea, but it is served beautifully and I got 4-5 cups out of the serving !

I liked how it was presented and it was extremely delicious once it was brewed. Alongside the tea, I opted for the old favourite of a bacon roll and brown sauce, £2.50.

The bacon was really good stuff, cooked on the crispy side and of course, the brown sauce complimented it well. Sometimes you just can’t beat a morning roll with bacon !
We were so busy chatting that the time flew by and the freshly baked scones (£2.50 with butter and jam) which are cooked on the premises, were just out of the oven, so we both had one whilst they were warm and it was melt-in-your-mouth stuff !
My mum had the same as me, except for the drink where she had a filtered coffee with hot milk which she assured me was delicious.
The Bakehouse Company has a lovely relaxed atmosphere about it, people dropping in for the take out menu, cyclists stopping off for a bowl of porridge and a peruse through the papers. A wonderful place for breakfast, next time I will be stopping by for lunch as I want to get stuck into one of their lovely home made pies and a slice of cake !
Suitable for disabled ? Yes, it’s on level ground
