Need something to do this Sunday ?? Well, Stockbridge is the place to be as the weekly Stockbridge Market is on at Portgower Place from 10am till 3pm which ties in nicely with the annual Stockbridge Duck Race kicking off at 3pm from the Deanhaugh Bridge.
The Sunday Market is new and has high aims to become the best market around. I grew up in Stockbridge and think that this can only add to the fabulous atmosphere of the area.

The photo is from the Stockbridge Sunday Market facebook page - a full review from me will follow.
There will be lots of stalls with lovely things to eat – cheeses, jams, meat, chicken, fruit and veg along with stalls selling lotions, pictures, clothes, massages and tarot readings ! A real mix.
When you have shopped till you drop, then head further into Stockbridge and enjoy the annual Stock Bridge Duck race, kicking off about 3pm. Their facebook page is HERE

This year’s post-race buffet will be held at the Bailie Bar. There will also be a kids DJ and prize announcements – everyone is welcome.
Ducks are on sale now and are £1.50 each from:
- The Bailie Bar
- The Antiquary
- The St. Vincent Bar
- Hamiltons
- Hectors
- The Stockbridge Tap
- Bliss
- The Store
with all proceeds going to charity (Stockbridge House and Maggie’s Centre this year)

I have already purchased the winning duck
But if you fancy coming second, then make sure you buy one before they sell out.
Let’s hope for good weather and a great Sunday in Stockbridge.
Suitable for disabled ? The Sunday Market is as it’s on flat ground with lots of access room
Unfortunately the duck race is not so suitable as you have to be able to look over the bridge, or go down the steps along the water of Leith.

I came by to say thanks for stopping by my site and so glad you are enjoying my recipes, and I’m so glad you posted this! I love Stockbridge (Rafael’s is one of our favourite restaurants), but I hadn’t heard of their market–so excited to try it out!

I’ve been looking at your site for a few weeks now. The market has only been on the last couple of weeks, but go to the duck race as well, it’s fun (party at the Bailie afterwards). I grew up in Stockbridge and love the area. Have fun !

I love Stockbridge! I wonder though whether the duck race is enough to tempt me away from Wimbledon on Sunday?

You can squeeze them all in I think, but decisions will have to be made after today’s semi final ! Duck race isn’t that long. Don’t know if tennis starts at 1pm or 3pm.

Just stumbled across your website by accident. I’m glad I found it though as I love shopping in Stockbridge but somehow always manage to miss the duck race every year so far! >_< I seem to only hear about it after it's happened. Not this year! Thanks for sharing the info

You pointed roughly finicky subject matter. These tips are very beneficial.
