REVIEW – Stockbridge Sunday Market

Stockbridge Market 002

I popped down to Stockbridge Sunday Market early doors to see what was happening this week.  They have a core set of stalls, but also some stalls appear every second week, so it’s always worth heading along every week to see who’s there.

One of the core ones is Well Hung and Tender .  I first reviewed their shop on my blog HERE.  It was only 10am when I went along, but was sorely tempted by a burger with the wonderful smells coming from their stall.

All their meat comes from the Scottish Borders and is simply delicious !

Simple Simon’s Perfect Pies is another regular stall and the choice of pies is amazing.  There will DEFINATELY be something to suit your taste.

Hard to choose which one !

You can buy fresh bread at the market and it’s hard to resist selection of tarts and pastries also for sale.

The Belhaven strawberries are just perfect and reasonably priced for 2 punnets or more (£3).  I had some of their ice cream on Thursday in the heat and it was extremely refreshing and great because you could taste the fruit throughout.

One of the many reasons why I like this market is that it has ‘alternative’ stalls, not just food.  For the spiritual amongst you, Angel Healing Waters has a stall offering readings and massages.  The neighbouring stall is run by Sandra Thomson Kay (omdeva888@gmail.com) who offers holistic kinesiology, reiki treatments and Indian head massage.  I got tested for food allergies at the stall and although I agreed with some of them, I can’t do without my chocolate !!

Pekoe Tea who normally operate online have a stall, again so many to choose from.

The market has bands playing which adds to the good atmosphere.  There are coffee stalls, so you can have breakfast / lunch and perhaps combine the market with a visit to the neighbouring Inverleith park.

The Stockbridge Sunday Market is still a new venture and is growing on a weekly basis, but worth visiting regularly to see the different stalls and enjoy a couple of hours in the wonderful Stockbridge.

Suitable for disabled ?      Yes, it’s all on even ground with ample room  :)
