The Overcoat is brought to you by Gecko Theatre who describe their show in the brochure as
Get the coat, get the girl, change the world.
A lonely clerk in a vast office dreams of romance with the girl at the next desk. But behind his quiet exterior is an extraordinary imagination fuelled by a desire to change his life. Inspired by Gogol’s the Overcoat, Gecko invent an intoxicating, imaginative world where a man’s secret thoughts and dreams spill out into his everyday life…
A captivating and imaginative hour spent inside the thought’s of a man tortured by his own desires. The beautiful imagery and movement intertwined with an array of languages kept the audience gripped and mesmerised. It was a fast paced adventure which was at times difficult to understand, however this was surpassed by the comical and romantic interactions of Akiki somewhere deep within his dreams. The sounds were inventive, the imagery was seamless and overall it was a performance of utter brilliance and made for delightful theatre.
Highly recommended from me, 5 stars.

The best show of the Fringe (and the Edinburgh International Festival) so far.
