Sometimes you just can’t beat a brekky roll at a greasy spoon cafe and my preferred one is ‘Now Rest’ at Bonnington Road (Leith End).

Ironically it’s next door to Martin Wishart’s cooking school
It’s full of characters, Leith locals, workies and people like me who just want a decent cup of tea and an egg and bacon roll !

I love the retro interior of this place and the old fashioned sauce bottles on the table. It’s table service unless you’re ordering to takeaway and the woman who runs this place and her staff are very friendly.
The menu is huge and is any combination you can imagine of bacon, sausages, eggs. Aswell as sandwiches at lunch time, pizzas and chips. Mugs of coffee, teas, irn bru and a selection of ice cream sundaes. A real variation.
They also sell Tunnocks caramel logs and wafers
Give this place a try if you’re in the area, but not if you’ve got somewhere important to go afterwards as you do tend to smell a bit of fried food when you leave ! Prices are very reasonable.
Suitable for disabled ? Yes it’s on ground level, but the toilets are quite small and probably not enough room for a wheelchair.
